Kabuki

Kabuki is a traditional Japanese art form that is said to have its roots in the Kabuki Dance which was started by a man named Izumo Izumo no Akuni Okuni in 1603. It is now over 400 years since then and kabuki has continued to evolve as a living theater.

Kabuki has been familiar to the Japanese people for such a long time that you can read it directly from the three letters of the word kabuki.

Originally, the word “kabuki” was a noun derived from the word kabuku, which means to dress or act in an eccentric manner, and the current name kabuki is a corruption of that character.
