    • read each a, i, u, e, o section from top to bottom and then from right to left:

      • ie:  ア   イ   ウ   エ   オ   カ   キ   ク   ケ   コ

    • then read each ya, yu, yo combination Japanese sound section from top to bottom and then from right to left:

      • ie:  キャ   キュ   キョ

  • Exceptions
    • ie:   ,   ,   ,    - different sound, read pronunciation

    • ie:   ,  ワ  - two ways to pronounce, read pronunciation

  • Sound equivalents - each katakana character has a hiragana and a romaji sound equivalent:
